Getting everyone to envy you is not difficult. At least for gaming freaks, there is the Voodoo Envy u:703. Currently the most expensive Voodoo notebook (Envy u:709 is yet to be available), but you get what you pay.
Available in 11 bold colors, the Envy u:703 stands out tall among the crowd. Voodoo even allows you to add selected “tattoos” onto the notebook. Its stunning exterior alone is enough justification for its price.
As for the specs, Voodoo allows a certain degree of customization. Here is a possible build:
- 15.5 x 11.75 x 1.95 inches
- Weighs 13 pounds
- Intel Pentium 4 540 3.6GHz
- 2GB DDR2 533MHz RAM
- Seagate 200GB(2 x 100GB) 7200RPM Hard Drive
- ENVY 7-in-1 Internal Card Reader
- 8X ENVY DVD+-RW Dual Layer Slot-Load DVD & CD Writer
- nVidia GeForce Go 7800 GTX 256MB
- 17″ TFT WUXGA 1900X1200 LCD Matte
- Voodoo ENVY Video Camera
- Envy Immersive Theater Audio System
- Envy Theaterbook Immersive Subwoofer
- ENVY Gigabit High Speed Ethernet
- Voodoo ENVY Multi-Wireless Card
- Internal 56K Fax Modem
This humble setup will cost slightly under US$5,000. There are even options like TV Tuner and external speakers which I left out. And if you choose lower performance parts, the price can go even below US$3,900. So they’re really quite flexible.
It’s quite obvious that gamers with fat bankrolls make a large part of their target market (why else the colors and tattoos). So if you are one that still uses a desktop, consider Voodoo notebooks. It’ll save you some desk space for chips and beers.
