Nokia has admitted that since the Nokia N-Gage launched in 2003, sales hasn’t been too good. In fact, the mobile giant only managed to meet one-third of their six-million-units sales goal.
“N-Gage is still being sold but it was not a success in the sense of developing a new category”, according to Nokia’s VP for corporate strategy, Antti Vasara.
Nokia will be shifting their focus to mobile music and mobile television. But that’s not to say mobile gaming will be neglected, as Nokia will be integrating N-Gage’s gaming software into their regular N-series cellphones. And come 2007, Nokia expects that larger screen sizes and better cellphone specifications will allow better prospects for the mobile gaming market.
See you in 2007, N-Gage!
