Last week, some poor chap bought this Xbox 360 picture for £470 (US$833) from eBay. Notice the third-last sentence on this second picture below. It reads “This auction is not for a Xbox 360 system, but instead a picture of one”.
Kinda pity the victim, but I sure had a good laugh. As with any online purchases, one should always read through every single word, terms and fineprints. Scams like this can happen anywhere, even offline. And I hope none of this ever happens to my dear readers like yourself.
But then again, maybe the guy really wanted the picture?

LOL moron.
December 15th, 2005 at 3:12 am
kind of dumb to buy an xbox for 800$…. what kind of guy does that? but the scammer is the real asshole though.
December 15th, 2005 at 3:37 am
I cant believe the fool actually went for it.
If he he looked cartefully he would have noticed. It just shows you can rush into things too quickly without looking.
December 15th, 2005 at 3:53 am
well he’s just the moron that wants it most, 15 people bidded
December 15th, 2005 at 4:00 am
I doubt he would pay it
December 15th, 2005 at 4:32 am
I feel so bad for that fool. Jeez, now he’s 800 dollars poorer for a picture! If I were the scammer I would feel so bad and just give it to him.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me…
December 15th, 2005 at 4:42 am
LOL, u never know maybe he wanted to pay $800 for a picture of an xbox-360? ……NOT hahah. Might look nice on his wall though,,
December 15th, 2005 at 5:48 am
looks like the auction got pulled fore the poor bastard got in too deep
December 15th, 2005 at 5:52 am
well the same sort of thing happens all the time with cars on ebay. The buyer thinks he’s buying a car and ends up with a model. If the auction title includes the term “as is” then there isn’t a lot the buyer can do, expecially if he already sent money

You want to see the most hilarious thing on eBay? Well how about an auction for an AIR GUITAR

Thats so harsh, i would kick that guy in the nuts if i had the chance. Kind of funny though, shows how stupid people can be on ebay. Now if you’ll excuse me, i need to go buy my picture of a Ps3.
December 15th, 2005 at 5:33 pm
ha, and the person who put the picture up is no longer an eBay user; he/she has been kicked off eBay by the looks of it. 3 guesses as to why
December 15th, 2005 at 5:38 pm
hahaha, always read the fine print
December 15th, 2005 at 11:04 pm
Moron for not reading, but in fairness damned deceitful of the seller….and if you check – eBay thought so too. Account banned.
December 16th, 2005 at 12:40 am
I have seen on ebay, a couple of weeks(maybe days, i cant remember) ago, an Xbox 360 for $14,999. NOW thats REDICULOS
December 16th, 2005 at 8:53 am
That’s too bad. I’ve been scammed from someone on ebay before and it’s not nice.
December 16th, 2005 at 8:57 am
Buyers Beware!!!! Ebay will do nothing to help this guys case. My brother bought a plasma tv from ebay and after was ruined in shipping and the seller pocketed the insurance money he complained and because he was a powerseller ebay banned my brother from the site. He’s done it to 4 other people as well.
Dirty Rats, never buy from Ebay, They’ll Screw you.
December 16th, 2005 at 10:46 am
Someone sold an XBox 360 box for around $400. Best thing was the guy said he made the box himself. Of course the user is no longer a registered user after that auction.
Roffle all night.
December 17th, 2005 at 6:33 pm
There are actually description laws that apply in advertising in the uk hence user has been banned.
Id burn his house down short sharp and damn simple.
December 17th, 2005 at 8:26 pm
honestly, if I was the guy who payed that much for a picture, id be reading up on the anarchists cookbook and preparing my revenge. No one scams me, not without spending the rest of their life wishing they hadnt.
December 20th, 2005 at 4:16 am
LOL think about all the other retards that were bidding it up b4 him tho hahha hes not the only retard, just the retard with the most money
December 21st, 2005 at 4:06 am
I’ve absolutely no sympathy for the guy. He should of read all the information and understood what he was bidding on. Just hope he got the picture….Wonder if he printed it out?
December 21st, 2005 at 11:33 am
You’re all douchebags and fatasses. I hate all of you!!!!!!!!!
December 21st, 2005 at 12:27 pm

December 22nd, 2005 at 11:57 am
I know a guy named BILL SEARS….and the user name that bought the 360 picture is billyspears :S ill have to ask him if he bought it lol.
December 23rd, 2005 at 1:32 pm
I think that’s awful, really feel sorry for the buyer. It was quite naive however to not read everything especially at a price like that! I wonder did she/he get their money back?
December 24th, 2005 at 2:55 am
moron deserved it, it’s fucking plain as day on there. if you’re going to drop that much money on something, fucking read what you’re buying you illiterate idiot.
December 25th, 2005 at 5:48 am
THE SELLER IS A JERK AND EVEN THOUGH IT DID STATE IN VERY FINE PRINT THE AUCTION IS FOR A PHOTO, THE LISTING WAS MISLEADING. PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS OUT TO GET SOMEONE FOR MONEY AND IT IS RIDICULOUS HOW PEOPLE FIND WAYS TO TRY AND SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 25th, 2006 at 8:12 pm
dumbass
LOL
March 11th, 2006 at 3:15 am
Doesnt this qualify as copyright infringement. That picture is property of Microsoft, right? So cant the seller be sued by Microsoft? Just a thought.
April 2nd, 2006 at 2:43 am
A man bought a PSP Box, just a box to hold PSP for $220 on eBay. This must be real. Why not try our luck too.
April 7th, 2006 at 8:34 am
Actualy, your legaly tied to sale what you picture on Ebay, NOT what the discription says.
That is, if there is any dought, it defaults to (whats in) the image of what you are saleing.
