Announced in September and supposedly already available in the market, the BenQ C800 is a 8-megapixel digital camera aimed at the casual photo-takers. Priced at only £147 (US$259), the camera comes with a decent 2.4″ 112k pixels LCD screen, 3x optical zoom, MPEG4 movie recording (640×480 @ 30 fps) , a Printer Mode for direct printing to compatible printers, 32MB built-in memory with support for external SD memory, and a nice 4cm macro focus distance for taking photos of tiny objects. The BenQ C800 also has an interesting Burst Mode that fires 4 shots in a single snap.
One of the reason why the BenQ C800 is so cheap, is that it runs on two AA batteries. But this could be considered both a blessing or a curse, since rechargable AA batteries are dirt cheap.
Although this camera should be out by now, it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere online for purchase. So meanwhile, you may want to check out other BenQ digital cameras on eBay.
