If it were not for the xbox 360 microsoft would be running out of things to produce. Linux is a better operating system for free as well as firefox for web browsers.

1. Microsoft only makes a small portion of its profits from the XBOX 360
2. Linux is slower cluggier and harder to use. Sure if your willing to learn the language you can “customize” it, but we could just reverse engineer whatever we need changed in windows… Linux is pathetic.
3. You, although being alienated by your parents, are right with one thing: Firefox is better.

the fact that you dont have (maybe cant get) the knowledge to use a linux system doesnt mean its hard to use. my 9 years old bro uses my linux box without problem.
I use gentoo linux since almost all the software that I need runs better on linux than windows
well windowsXP PRO can be a nice OS but you’ll have to work a lot to make it secure and stable remember that winxp’s default settings are set with simplicity in mind to make it posible for pleople like Matt to use the system
the ie browser for mac is pure crap. i like safari the way it is, ive tried firefox, but not a big fan of it cause i have a powerbook and i have two fingered scrolling, and if you don’t move it right way it will navigate backwards or forwards depending on what you have browsed.
plus anything microsoft is junk! the new messenger, it looks cool, but as usual it’s typical microsoft programming, so it’s lowsy and crashes. I’ve never seen my old messenger crash! but the new wants to crash and “send a message” to microsoft? what is that?
And as far as “vista” goes. it looks like a generic version of OSX.
As far as picking an OS goes, it really depends on what you’re looking for. Each OS has its own advantage. I personally use Windows XP and I have several boxes that run Debian Sarge. I love the boot and shut-down time on XP as well as the ease of use. Lets not forget that graphics support is much nicer on Windows and can be one hell of a pain to configure on Linux if you have an unsupported video card. On the second hand, I love free software and software management on Debian is really easy with Apt-get. Even with a heavily customized kernel, I’ve found Linux to be just as fast as Windows (after all of the customization) while Windows is pretty quick out of the box. If you’re going to be running apps (like a file server or network util) that doesn’t require GUI, any MS OS will never match the speed of a Linux box configured to run without X-server.

No one’s used IE for Mac in years, surely? They stopped updating it ages ago. I’ve barely ever used it.
