A German paedophile has turned himself in to the police, after mistaking an email sent by a computer virus to be an official letter warning him of their knowledge of his internet activities! First reared its ugly head in November, the infamous Sober-Z is a mass-mailing worm which spreads by sending emails of varying contents. Supposedly, this is the particular one that managed to reach the offender’s mailbox:

Pedophilia is a condition where a person is primarily sexually attracted to not-yet-sexually mature children and experiences fantasies about engaging in sexual activity with such children. It is not necessary to act on such fantasies in order to be a pedophile, I think, so long as they are there and are primary for the individual (meaning that given an unrestricted, unpunished choice of partners, a child would be chosen over a attractive sexually mature partner). There is never a time when sexual contact with a pre-pubescent child is appropriate. In all cases, any such sexual contact is an instance of child sexual abuse. Sexual contact with post-pubescent children may also be an instance of child sexual abuse, but it is more of the conventional “rape” sort, and not indicative of pedophilia.
If you believe that you will act out sexually with pre-pubescent children unless you are somehow treated or restrained, then I think you fit the definition of a pedophile, as I’ve expressed it above. This does not mean that you are in anyway beyond hope, or untreatable, or a monster. It does mean that you have a problem that needs to be dealt with or you are likely to hurt someone deeply, in the manner that you yourself were likely hurt. It seems to be pretty common that pedophiles were themselves abused by pedophiles when they were young. Not all victims of child sexual abuse become pedophiles, but some seem to. It is not an indication that you were ‘born a monster’ or anything like that. It is simply that children do respond sexually, and what you learn as a child, particularly when that learning involves sexuality or pain or violence, since these are ‘extreme’ experiences can stick with you as you get older. Prematurely sexualized children may become promiscuous, and in any case, often end up acting out in a variety of ways, many self-destructive. Pedophilia is probably one of those ways.
I want to say that I’m sorry to learn that you were abused as a child. You were a victim; you were harmed, and it appears now that you are indeed ‘ill’ in some part because of that harm in the sense that your normal sexual development has been messed with and you are at risk for abusing others. While it may not be your fault that you ended up with the desires you have ended up with, you need to contain those desires so that NO ONE ELSE IS HARMED AND MESSED WITH AS YOU WERE HARMED AND MESSED WITH. There is no such thing as consentual sexual activity with a child. Any sexual activity with a child needs to be thought of as abusive.
I do not believe that you are necessarily beyond help in managing these desires of yours. People are able to change at least how they approach their lives and internal drives even when they cannot always fundamentally alter them. A skillful therapist can help you to manage and contain your desires. The key as I understand it is empathy. You need support to help you become crystal clear in your mind that if you act on your fantasies you will be harming and abusing another person. Another key is that you do not tempt fate by indulging in fantasies involving children. In some ways, treating pedophile sexuality like alcoholism is probably a reasonable approach; it is necessary that you become completely sober, that you have support to help you restrain yourself, that you do not ‘go into bars to test your resolve’ (in your case, that you do not seek employment near schools, or search out child pornography), etc. The type of support you seek out will necessarily have to be carefully chosen as not just anyone can be counted on to really help you. I would think that your best bet would be a professional and licensed senior clinical psychologist of some sort – someone who has been working for over 10 years, and someone who can offer you legally binding doctor-patient confidentiality. You may also want to seek out self-calming training such as meditation training where you can learn detachment from desire. This is all quite important. Don’t skimp on seeking support in this manner; You really will need the help if you are dealing with trying to hold back something as fundamental as your sexual desires, and you will also want help in healing your own abuse wounds. If you fail to restrain yourself and act out sexually with a child you will not only really damage that child, you will also become a real and true criminal and be subject to criminal prosecution – you will force society in its inefficient way to restrain you by putting you into jail; something nobody wants to happen if it can be avoided. Good luck in keeping yourself on a healthy, non-harming path, and good luck in your own healing.

What’s the biggest difference between a child of 17 years old and an adult of 18? The time difference of 12 months is a retarded defense! What is a child? What is the age requirement of a child? Is a child someone who cannot make the right decisions on his/her own? If that is the case, then many of the mid 30 year olds I work with must be considered children, and should be protected by those who are capable of making the ‘right’ decisions. Why does one person or a small group of people dictate what is right and what isn’t? Is it generally acceptable for 18+ boys and girls (Canada), or 21+ year olds (in some US states) to indulge in alcohol, surrender themselves to porn, and smoke a pack a day? An 18 year old is NOT generally smarter than a 17 year old, and I can also say the same that a 40 year old is NOT generally smarter than a 15 year old.
So what happens if you catch your son/daughter at the unripe age of 14 masturbating to a copy of Penthouse? Does that mean that it has the reverse mechanisms of breaking the 18+ law that corporations that create Playboy and Penthouse should be sued or its officers jailed for ‘raping’ the minds of these young and highly non-innocent ‘children’?

I agree with all who have said that people need to think before they speak. I have noticed more than enough times that people seem to think teenagers are literally innocent children. I think these people are obviously very ignorant when it comes to teenagers. I myself am 19 and I have a very good inclination to the world and mind of a teenager.
Even when I was in Elementary school (childhood innocence still intact) sex was a known thing. We’d mimic adults, pretending to “date”. We’d have “boyfriends” or “girlfriends” and we’d kiss etc. It was all innocent though because our pre-pubescent brains could not grasp the real concept of an adult relationship. I have always known that sexual curiosity is natural amongst children, so imagine if it starts around that age, what do you think teenagers are going to be like? By the time you become pubescent you basically lose that childhood innocence, and therefore I do not believe any teenager is literally a “child”. You can call them children because legally they are minors, and they are not full adults yet but to actually think a teenager has the mind of a innocent, pre-pubescent child is completely ignorant. There is no way that a teenager is literally a child. Not mentally. Not unless they’ve been extremely guarded and hidden from the real world. There’s a mental change that happens to you once you hit puberty, and that change is what makes the difference.
Sex is a natural thing, and I think it’s quite typical for any man (or even woman in some cases) to be sexually attracted to a young teen. Why not? Your teenage years are basically your prime time when it comes to looks. Your subtle, perky, and natural. It’s just the perk of being that young. There is a reason why modeling agencies pick up 14 year old girls to model. It’s because they’re beautiful! There’s nothing more to it. They’re naturally beautiful.
Now I’m not saying go have sex with 14 year old teenagers, all I’m saying is that I think the sexual attraction to teenagers is quite typical and natural, and that does not make you a pedophile.
I consider a pedophile someone who is sexually attracted to adolescent kids and pre-pubescent children. Just because someone finds a pubescent teenager attractive doesn’t mean they’d find pre-pubescence attractive. That all depends on the individual because they could, but that doesn’t mean they do. That’s why I don’t believe you should judge someone simply for one thing and I do NOT think we should base our opinions on laws. Laws have changes throughout history. We should base them on what is right or alright, given the situation and people involved, and what is truly evil.
I take it some people who have responded to this didn’t bother to stop and think that in the UK once a teenager turns 16 they are legal. And in some places, I believe, even a 14 year old is considered legal as long as the parents give their consent. It’s because of that very reason why I don’t base my opinions on laws. I base them on the facts I am given and the individuals. I wish more people would stop being so close-minded and ignorant and start doing the same.

This may shock those of you who believe that teens are not sexual creatures, but she had the body, looks and maturity often not found in women until they reach their mid 20’s, and i truly believed her to be sexually mature, not only legally, but personally as well. No. If i had known beforehand that she was so young, I wouldn’t have even considered sleeping with her, but having had false information that was very believable when in her company about her age, it seemed perfectly fine to me *at the time.* So am I sick? I don’t think so, though i’m sure there are some of you out there who think i’m a twisted pervert who deserves to spend 20 years in Jail for his “Heinous Crime Against Nature”. Did I do the wrong thing? Again, no. If I had gone back for more after finding out her true age, then Yes, I would have been definitely doing the wrong thing, and would deserve punishment from the law/the girl’s family for certain, but when we slept together, I had only the thought that i was sleeping with a young lady of 17, and that she was bloody good in the sack. I since met her Mother, who was quite understanding actually, and said she understood totally, and told me that I wasn’t the first, and certainly wasn’t the last man she tricked with her physical maturity. In cases like these, I believe that if a teen believes in themselves that they are ready for sex, then they are ready for sex, and in any case, there’s nothing you/we can do to stop them experimenting, apart from locking them away from the world and completely running their social lives, which i believe would be far more damaging to a teen than some casual sex with someone they have chosen to be with.

in conclusion, i’d just like to say that classifying a teens sexual maturity in years is bloody stupid, but is necessary due to the even more stupid people that don’t know when too young really is just too young. when a young man/woman begins their “sexual career” they aren’t bothered by ideas of paedophilia, they see someone they want to shag, and they set about either doing it or getting rejected. The teen in question may find the idea of child sex repulsive, but the attitude doesn’t hold up when they are the child in question, and they are wanting to sleep with an older person/persons.

Man, this thread definitely shows the state of sexual chaos that exists in our world. Why not try (1) submitting to the laws of our lands and (2) relying on something outside our own experience to demonstrate right and wrong?
