Imagine the possibility of bringing along your precious internet access and satellite TV with you, wherever you go! Yup, the SpeedRay 3000 by RaySat is that cool. Meant to be mounted on vehicle roofs, the SpeedRay works via satellite, providing passengers with on-the-move high-speed internet access and digital satellite TV. It is basically a mobile internet and satellite TV hotspot!
The system consists of an outdoor antenna unit for satellite signal reception, an indoor antenna controller, a satellite modem for Internet access, a WiFi router, and a DBS satellite receiver for live satellite TV. And it will work with any gadgets that are WiFi-capable.
RaySat says it’ll be available Summer, 2006. No pricing details yet, but you can be sure it will be nowhere near cheap. But I guess Survivor contestants will want one anyway.

Update (January 6, 2006): Unlike what Dan said under Comments below, this isn’t vaporware. The SpeedRay 3000 is currently being showcased at CES 2006, North Hall/6017 . Furthermore, it won the CES Best of Innovations award.
And guess what, we now have a price. It’ll cost you a whooping 7 grand, together with an unknown monthly subscription.
I’ll stick with blogging and regular TV from home.

This unit is vaporware at this point. They’ve been promising this for years. Glad to know their PR department still gets paid for something.

Can you please contact me. I would currently have dish network, but would like to upgrade to 4 rooms and get satellite internet, but would like the monthly bill to be under $100 per month. Thank you.
