After 37 long years, Intel Corp. is finally ditching its logo, together with its very successful 16-year-old tag line: “Intel inside”. The old logo, featuring the word “Intel” with a lowered “e”, will be replaced by this new one shown above. And the tag line “Intel inside” will step down, while “Leap ahead” takes over.
“‘Intel. Leap ahead.’ is a simple expression that declares who we are and what we do. This is part of our heritage,” Kim, Chief Marketing Officer, said in a statement.
Reuters UK mentioned that Kim was hired away from Samsung “to forge a savvy consumer brand to take on industry stalwarts such as Japan’s Sony Corp”.
But really, I expected better. The logo remained largely similar to the old one. And the look and feel certainly didn’t change much to be considered more “savvy”.

Changing a tagline after so many years is a dangerous move. Especially ditching one that is relevant to their technology for one that is vague. Leap Ahead of who? Or what? Intel is already the dominant processor in PCs, so they don’t need to leap ahead of anyone.
What does that mean “Leap ahead”?
Nothing. It’s just “marketing speak”
