Ever stopped at the door on your way out and wonder if you should bring that umbrella along because the sky looks so dark? I sure do, because I simply hate carrying umbrellas. But still, the hate for getting wet is much greater.
So if you’re like me, I’m sure you’ll like the Ambient Device’s Weather Forecasting Umbrella. Announced at the recent CES 2006 and not yet available on their official website, the umbrella is pretty much like any other umbrella except for its cool forecasting feature. Connected to Ambient’s nationwide radio network, the umbrella is able to tell the day’s weather. And if rain is imminent, the umbrella’s handle glows blue, signaling you that you should give it some love and bring it along with you. Brilliant!
The downside is that only the Americans will get to enjoy owning one, since Ambient’s network covers only the States (90%). And judging from the price of their Weather Beacon and Weather Dashboard, I bet the retail price of the umbrella is likely to be 10 times that of my current humble umbrella.
