It’s pretty obvious that E-Ink is a great technology which is best used in reading-related gizmos. So it’s great to see that the Lexar JumpDrive Mercury actually uses E-Ink in a different and neat way. When plugged into the computer, the JumpDrive shows its remaining capacity on its E-Ink meter. And when unplugged, the display remains without the need of any power source. Handy for checking out if those pr0n on your friend’s computer will fit!
The drive will come in 1GB and 2GB capacities. And we’ve yet to see any pricing details. But it’s a no-brainer that it’ll cost more for the novelty. So if you’re on the cheap, there’s always other Lexar JumpDrives on eBay!

Finally. I hate having a handful of USB drives and no being able to tell the capacity by looking at them. Now if they’d just put speakers in them that would sound an alarm when you whistle, preventing you from misplacing them.

Maybe not whistling, imagine the commotion if someone whistles by accident in the warehouse!
When Bluetooth gets dirt cheap, it’ll probably work well for this purpose.
