Remember those cool transparent display panels that we often see in movies such as Minority Report? Thanks to the researchers over at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP, the technology might be made possible in our everyday gadgets in a near future.
“We achieved this result by using a new type of metal electrode to supply the polymer film with electric current,” reports Armin Wedel of the IAP. “The clue of the transparency lies in its physical properties.”
Usages envisioned includes using hand-in-hand with LCD to act as an overlay for packing more information on-screen, and transforming vehicle windshields and building windows into ultra-cool display panels. Whoa…I can already imagine a future where advertisements are plastered onto ever single commercial buildings’ windows. But till then, it’s safe to assume that the technology will debut on small devices such as cellphones and PDA.

Yeah, add this to a like suit made out of the stuff thats harder then diamonds, use the military suit that adds like 50% strength to neone, and put this on the visor of the helmet, and then add the tshirt that will monitor standard life things such as heart rate and transfer em the info to a device, and u got urself a masterchief lol…. damn kids wit video games and no lives lol.
seriously though if they added all this stuff together, the world would be like all crazy. i cant imagine wat my life is going to be like in 20 years.

Ever seen The Island? It would be cool if we have like that pyramid thing he had to move these panels like a mouse moving a window

If you are interested in this type of research you should consider the materials science and engineering discipline. I have a few friends working on transparent conducting films at northwestern university.
