Automotive

The new Volvo S80 looking sleek. Interior of the Volvo S80 looks totally neat.

Apparently, the Volvo people love backseat-slasher flicks. The all new Volvo S80 luxury sedan will be equipped with a heartbeat sensor. If any psycho happens to be hiding under your backseat waiting to slash your throat, you’ll receive a warning via the wireless Personal Car Communicator (PCC) key fob. How cool, although we have no idea how it manages to detect vibrations as minute as a heartbeat. Other than saving your life, I suppose the technology could also help remind bad parents that they’ve forgotten their, err, baby in the car.

The PCC also allows you to perform a security check before getting into the car, such as showing you if the car is locked or if the alarm was ever activated.

Security and peace of mind comes with a price. And in this case, a suggested retail price of $37,585.
