Trash cans with lids are good, they keep the odors and the filthy sights away. Although most of such trash cans can be opened with your feet, but admit it, you want it automatic. I know I do, ’cause my can is located in such a way that I have to turn my chair to step on the lever just to open the darn lid.
Life would have been much better with the iTouchless Trashcan. The lid opens automatically whenever your hands come within 6-inches of its infrared sensor, and closes automatically after 3-seconds when your hands move away. All it needs is four D-size batteries. The only problem I could foresee is the lid playing poltergeist and opening unexpectedly.
iTouchless Trashcans are available in various models such as the iTouchless Plastic Trashcan and the iTouchless Stainless Steel Trashcan, and prices vary with the model of course.

kinda pricey. I guess we can’t use it to throw stuff from far away like I like to do sometimes

And what exactly is the point of it? just get a trashcan without a lid. its much more convenient. and i like to throw stuff away from a distance too. and having it open randomly would scare the crap out of me.
kthxbye

Of course, you could do that…but as I mentioned in the first sentence of the post, lids are good for hiding all the crap you have inside the can. It keeps away insects and smells as well.
I guess having no lids is fine if you don’t dump chicken wings and beer cans into your can like I do.
