Sony to Ship Blank Blu-Ray Discs This Month at $30 Each

Sony Blu-ray discs are unsurprisingly expensive at launch.

Sony has finally announced that the empty Blu-ray discs will begin shipping this month in Europe. For a whooping US$30, you’ll get a measly 25GB single layer BD-R. And in April, the rewritable BD-RE will follow, at a price of $36.

Thanks, but no thanks Sony. I’m back to my trusty DVDs for now.

I like Blu-ray better than HD-DVD, but the latter’s name has a nicer “ring” to it.

You’re an idiot if you stick to your low-res DVD. Stop being a xbox fan boy which is a logical assumption. HD-DVD and Blu-ray use the same blue laser technology. Blu-ray has higher storage capacity.
