You get one hell of a big display that is capable of a killer 10240 x 3072 resolution. Yup, that’s 31 whooping millions of pixel joy. It is put together by the guys at Virginia Tech’s GigaPixel Facility, with each monitor running at 1280 x 1024.
And what’s a huge display good for if it can’t be used for gaming, right? With 12 linux servers running distributed computing software to support the intensive resolution, Quake III could be played (albeit with some lighting effects turned off) at a cool 15-30 frames per second.

Somehow I don’t think that will take off… Not when the alternative is projection which can create a screen just as big and require far less effort, money and development.
