Sony has announced three new HDD/DVD recorders, namely the RDZ-D97A (400GB), the RDZ-D77A (250GB) and the RDZ-D87 (400GB). The D97A and the D77A will come with one digital and two analog TV tuners, which allows simultaneous recording of up to three television programs. Perfect for big families where soccer matches, romance dramas and Lost all happen to screen at the same time slot. Additionally, if you own a PSP as well, the recorders will allow you to record directly onto your PSP, allowing you keep that recording for viewing on your journey.
As for the D87 model, it is supposedly the lower end (albeit with a larger HDD space than D77A) model which does not include the simultaneous channel recording and PSP support. If someone could translate the japanese press release and confirm this, that would be great.
The recorders are expected to roll out on May 19 in Japan.
