Mobile

Netgear Skype SPH101 does not have an impressive look, but the Skype support makes it unique. The Netgear Skype SPH101 looks very much like an old Sony Ericsson mobile.

The Netgear Skype WiFi Phone SPH101 is now available for pre-order on Amazon. This phone is unique because of its ability to use Skype to make phone calls without having to plug into a computer. As most of us know, the beauty of Skype lies in its free phone calls to other Skype users and the cheap rates for calling landline phones and mobiles worldwide. With SPH101, all you need is a WiFi hotspot and you’re gold.

It’s not without flaws though. Hotspots requiring web-based authentication are not supported. And the phone does not come with any of the bells and whistles such as camera and MP3 player that we all grown so accustomed to.

The phone comes with a price tag of $249.99 on Amazon.

Feature list:

  • Call anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world for free, no PC required
  • Make and receive Skype phone calls wherever you have wireless Internet access (hotspots requiring web based authentication are not supported)
  • Call any phone worldwide for pennies per minute and with no monthly fees
  • Manage your contact list and displays who’s available to talk
  • Can forward your calls to your mobile, landline or to another Skype Name
