Video: Nintendo Wii Controller In Action. And New Classic Controller

Wed, May 10, 2006

Gaming

Check out the Nintendo Wii video above that was shown at E3. Looks cool and all, swinging the Wii Remote around as if you’re actually playing the real golf/tennis/FPS. But really, we’ll only know how well it’ll catch on when it’s eventually released. Home console input devices that require exaggerated movements have never ever really caught on.

The controller will also feature a built-in speaker, in an attempt to up its degree of in-game immersion. The twang of a bowstring or the clang of two clashing blades is the kind of “close-up” sound you’ll expect to hear through the speaker.

The Nintendo Wii Classic Controller offers a choice for gamers.

What’s comforting to know is that Nintendo will be releasing a Classic controller (pictured right) that will work just like our typical and familiar controllers. No needs to swing the Wii Remote around like a nunchaku.

Yea Everybody at E3 was sucked into the nintendo Area because of the controller it will definately catch on…and the Wii will cost nothing compared to the 2 other competitors which makes it even better i as well cant wait till it comes out.

looks like gamecube graphics with a controller that will make me exercise. F that! i dont need exercise when im playing games. give me options to hook up a keybaord and mouse. i want Half Life 2 graphics or better. as a new standard all games should be high-def. get a HD-LCD. get with the times. as far as price goes? who gives a shit about the price? i got tons of cash. if its a “revolution” i want to see revolutionary graphics. i’ll pay 1000-15000 for a “revolution”. what? cant afford it? get a better job! problem solved. what your a kid and still in school? why arnt your parents making a better living? why cant they provide? i would suggest encourging them to do a better job. Bill Gates is a college drop out. start a busines, invent something, make smart online trades, sell drugs, go to school if you have to. i want better! all you people bitching about price are holding me back. makes me sick. they design products around poor people that wont get off their ass or are to stupid to make any real money in this world.

wow… you really need 2 not give your opinion man. seriously. although everyone is entitled to an opinion i do believe you are the 1 exception to the rule!

stop playing games all day. get laid.

    @ ‘theinsider’

Graphics aren’t everything that make a game.

    You, obviously, are an idiot.

  8. Sam Says:

    Ditto–
You are NOT a representative of the market. Few people have $15000 to blow on a console. For most, 300 is a stretch for a non-essential purchase. I hope you never end up running a gaming company because youll price yourself out of the market.

actually, i do hope he runs one and it gets run over by real consoles with fun as a main focus. sure graphics are great, but its really just icing on a cake.

the revolution will succeed for all the previously mentioned reasons: price, uniqueness, quality of game. its just common sense really.

I get laid plenty. The topic is not how much snatch I get. I stand by my original post. Broke folks are dictating the content I get. I’m sooo sorry that 95% of the world doesn’t know how to make bank but I’m starving for new $#!t. I’ll pay anything to see something new and “revolutionary”. So yeah I have some bank and don’t mind blowing it on new tech, I work for it. I’m just sick of the gaming world (console market) being based on the price that people who can’t or won’t make decent bank set a standard. Money is floating in the wind. Get it or suffer. If I was sitting on my a$$ all day and playing games I wouldn’t have it. I’m an occasional gamer (8 hours per week max. I’ve been playing a long time. Original NES purchased 1989) maybe more if I’m lucky and not making trades or running my business. $599 for a PS3? A deal if you ask me for a gaming system/Blueray player. Nintendo might make it…it might not. Don’t hate. I can’t predict the future. If it’s a “revolution” I might actually buy it after I see it in action. Look I’m not trying to shiite on your “revolution” I’ve been following it since last years E3. I have been very interested. I thought they, might actually surprise me. I’m just not impressed with what I have so seen far. So I’m a PC gamer first. I spend 1500 a year on a new system to keep up. I see consoles catching up and might one day be a born again console player. But Nintendo has once again let me down. I can’t wait to see videos on spikedhumor.com of you idiots over 10years old waving you arms all over to make Mario jump.

Insider, for the love of god, PLEASE STOP POSTING!!! Please, I know your trying to convince us all your the biggest genius on the face of this planet and you know anything about everything, yes, we are truly convinced. You can now go back to buying your big expensive gear, taking it down the basement of your mothers home, connect, impress the neighbors kids and get laid by that hot babe of yours, Palmela Handerson;-P In my opinion PS3 will top the console wars graphicaly, but graphics can only go so far. What Nintendo is doing with Wii is the future of gaming. Nintendo is the only gaming company, I know of to date, that takes crazy risks and fails horribly but to only come back with something that saves the day. I’ve had the Power Glove, Super Scope, and Virtual Boy which I think all were trashy gimmicks. The point is nintendo took the chance and failed. I’m sure Wiis’ creators had all of these past projects and more, in mind, when in development. So I truly believe Wii will give PS3 and 360s’ oh so pretty graphics, a run for their money with their innovative technology and consumer friendly prices. No, I am not a Nintendo fanboy. Yes, I do own all systems at the moment and can afford PS3, but I won’t buy it because I’m not impressed by pretty flashy lights and colors, like the majority of gamers are :-(

you bought a Power Glove? way to go! smart purchase! you’re not willing to buy a PS3/Blueray combo device in 2007 for $600? The NES the Powerglove cost $300 combined when the Powerglove was released in what…1989? and it didnt even work. Nintendo ripped off thousands of people with that piece-o-shite. I know! my idiot cousin talked his mom into buying one. That thing was a total waste of money. I still have ill feelings about that. Nintendo tried too, and did, sell loyal consumers a product that was a total cheap gimic. send those a$$ho!!S to jail for life! you have prob spent more on cheap Nintendo gimics than you would have ever spent on a real gaming machine. Robbyb the Robot? the Power Glove? the Light Gun (duck hunt shite), that 3d thing. whatever. hate all you want. i dont care. . Its now 15 yers later. 600 is reasonable for a gaming system. a HD-DVD or BlueRay Drive alone cost 500. so a PS3 with a BlueRay Player plus a high end gaming machines for 600 is a deal and a half. Sony is taking a loss on units to sell games. figure out a way to hack your systems and get rips off bittorrent. I build my own gaming PCs, my last finished 4/1/06 for 1400. the PS3 matches the specc (or closse) for half the price. Nintenedo looks old. No HD support. like I want to watch 480i

oh….by the way…you’re all a bunch of Pokémon, Pikmin, Animal Crossing playing bunch of fags!

[Comment ID #2529 Will Be Quoted Here]

i agree with firch. its LAME! how about a game on the Wii where you can double dutch jumprope! or play Teeball!!! that would be swell.

  15. Nayf Says:

Holy shit dude did u see that ninja game thing they had goin on there? Looks fooqin awsome can’t wait for that shit. Not sure if it’ll catch on, seems like the DS all over again to me! People will prolly just be drones and go the best graphics with more features that just gaming!

I’m hoping Nintendo prevails but I’m definately gonna take more convincing than than!

  16. nafyy Says:

Freakking cool cant wait to chop that guys head with the samurai sword :)

  17. Honor Says:

Yo this this is my honest opinion n read this “the insider” you twat.Refering to the other opinions , Firstly Nintendo’s older products were technology in the making eg. Power glove ,Super Scope and Virtual Boy , back then playstation was’nt around n xbox was’nt even a idea n who know’s “insider” you were probs a lil kid still shittin in ya dypers back then. the fact is, they were trying things out like anyone would do. IT WAS THE DAWN OF THE GAMING AGE!!!!!, Right next: Pokemon is a money making sceme that pulled off amazingly well, jesus christ they have made millions. this bits for “insider”.
Ok ,some people ent fucking millionares like you, people have to pay bills, pay for food,n generally parents have to pay for things on their kids aswell.Hell boy i bet your just some greedy lazy fat cunt that gets money handed out to ya.
Now the main point: i recon Nintendo Wii since has got the technology behind it to work n since its different from the 360 n ps3 it will sell well if not better.it is nothing like anything else which makes it unique,Nintendo has opened the doors to the next level of gaming , n dont forget they have been around many years , n had their falls n up’s,they know what they are doing!! I will be looking forwad to its release.

  18. Andrew Chilton Says:

The best thing about Nintendo is that they go their own way and do really really well. A completely new concept and for about half the price of a PS3 – nice.
