FIFA World Cup 2006 is upon us in less than 11 days from now! And here’s some essential gadgets to get the best out of this once-every-four-years world sporting event.
The Biggest Television You Can Afford
A huge television is without any doubt the best way to get the most out of a soccer match. If you’re still hanging onto your CRT television, perhaps now is a great time to upgrade to a LCD HDTV! Remember, the bigger the better. So grab the biggest television you can afford.
Buy LCD televisions from Bizrate.
Inflatable Beer Bucket
What is soccer without some smooth beer to go along! And to enjoy the soccer match without any interruptions, it is all-important to have the beer cans and bottles right next to you. Fill the inflatable beer bucket with ice and cold water and you’ll never have to step away from the TV for some ice-cold beer. The best part is that it’s inflatable, so you could bring it to a friend’s place!
Buy the Inflatable Beer Bucket from BoysStuff.
Ring-shaped Bottle Opener
If you prefer bottles to cans, you’ll need an opener for your beers. And this is one of the coolest and easy-to-use openers out there. Slip it on and start opening bottles without your eyes ever leaving the screen!
Buy the Ring-shaped Bottle Opener.
Comfy Chairs
You wouldn’t want to watch World Cup on stools right? Ekornes are among the finest when it comes to sofas. I’ve tried their recliner chairs numerous times and the comfort is topnotch. The only problem is that they are a bit on the pricey side.
Quality Alarm Clock
If you are like me and lives in Asia, you’ll probably have to take a quick nap in the evening then drag yourself out of the bed during midnight to catch the matches. Here’s where a good alarm clock comes in handy. Recently we featured a Top 10 Coolest Alarm Clocks list that’ll help you pick the coolest way to wake up.
Check out our list of top 10 alarm clocks.
Coffee!
Yes, coffee! You’ll need lots of them if you needed an alarm clock as mentioned above, because it isn’t right to be stealing sleep at work for the whole month of World Cup! So if you have no coffee maker at home, it’s about time to get one.

Immerse Yourself With Headphones
To immerse yourself into the glorious matches, you’ll need to have the TV’s volume way up. So if that is not feasible, what you need is a pair of superior headphones. Headphones like the Sony MDR-DS6000 that is wireless and capable of delivering excellent sound.
Buy the Sony MDR-DS6000 from SonyStyle.
Watch TV On The Go
Perhaps due to working or schooling hours, it’s next to impossible for you to catch a single match at home. But wouldn’t it be great if you can whip out a TV receiver and start tuning in to the matches during lunchtime or while traveling? Get a suitable TV receiver from Hauppauge and plug it into your notebook or office desktop, and you are all set.
Buy a Haupaugge TV receiver from eBay.

I wish I had a good TV. I’ll be watching the World Cup games (hopefully all 64) on a 19 in. cathode-ray TV that’s 8 years old. Nonetheless, I’m still extremely excited..11 days away with Germany vs Costa Rica (I believe) kicking it off.
