The folks over at iLounge has managed to get their hands on the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit, and how nice of them to share their first impression and unboxing ritual.
For just $29, you get the sensor for your special Nike+ shoes and the receiver for your iPod Nano. Using wireless technology similar to WiFi, the sensor transmits information of your jogs and runs to your iPod, where it gets transferred to your computer after your exercise.
Some points observed:
- Naturally, there’s nothing stopping you from using the sensor with non-Nike shoes. But having to cut a perfect hole in the sole just so it fits comfortably isn’t quite worth the effort.
- At this moment, the receiver only works with the iPod Nano. Plugging it into a 5G brings up “The currently attached accessory is not supported by this iPod”.
- The Nike+ website looks really slick!
For the gadget geeks like me, this could be a great motivation to get our ass off the couch.
