Firstly is the video iPod. Not quite a major upgrade, but a welcomed one nonetheless.
The hardware goodies:
- Screen is now 60% brighter
- Battery can last up to 3.5 hours during video playback
- New headphones
- 30GB and 80GB versions
The software goodies:
- Gapless playback
- Text-based search
- Brightness controls
- Games! Bejeweled, Cubis 2, Mahjong, Mini Golf, Pac Man, Tetris, Texas Hold ‘Em, Vortex, and Zuma included
- Get new games at $5 each via iTunes
$250 for the 30GB and $350 for the 80GB. That means more storage than before and at a lower price. Thumbs up!
IPOD NANO
The iPod Nano update is perhaps more exciting than the video iPod.
What’s new:
- Now in five iPod Mini-like colors: silver, black, green, blue and pink
- 0.3mm thinner (6.6mm vs 6.9mm)
- Screen is 40% brighter
- Battery life increased from the previous 14 to 24 hours
$149 for the 2GB. $199 for the 4GB. $249 for the 8GB. Which means the storage is now doubled for the same price that you would pay before today. What more could you ask for?
IPOD SHUFFLE
Ahh…the iPod Shuffle update has got to be my favorite. It now sports a really tiny form factor, claiming the crown of “World’s Smallest MP3 Player”.
The features:
- Amazingly compact design: 1.07 x 1.62 x 0.41-inch, 0.55oz (27.2 x 41.1 x 10.4mm, 15.6g)
- 1GB storage
Awesome for jogging, as it clips easily onto your pockets. It’s so darn light as well so you probably won’t feel it. What’s best is its price. Just $79!
Itching for a new MP3 player? Now’s a good time for an iPod.

The problem with the new shuffle is that it’s that light you won’t notice it falling out of your pockets (especially when jogging) but if you have the earphones in you won’t lose it.
