Move IE7’s Menubar Back To The Top

Computer

Moving IE7’s Menubar back to the top.

Using IE7? Hate that Menubar that is sticking out below your location bar and you can’t seem to move it?

Well…switch to Firefox!

Ha…or simply apply this IE7 registry hack:

  • If IE is opened, close it before doing anything
  • Start your registry editor (Start -> Run, type regedit in the run field and press OK)
  • Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ InternetExplorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser and be sure that the WebBrowser key is selected
  • Right-click the right part of the registry editor, select New->DWORD Value, and name it “ITBar7Position”
  • Double click that new value, and assign it with a decimal value of 1
  • Restart IE7, and voilà! You’re done.

Thanks Kiltak!

This is great, and down bellow is probably so-colled Microsoft way to resolve this:

    1. Log on to your Windows Professional computer as an administrator

    2. From the Start | Run dialog, type gpedit.msc | {Enter}

    3. Navigate to User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer

    4. In the right-pane, sort by Setting and scroll to “Moving the menu bar above the navigation bar”

    5. Change this to an Enabled state.

    Voila!

[...] Much better. No more disorientation for browser users who jump between Firefox, Opera, and IE 7 [via]. Now that Microsoft is rollowing out automatic updates for Internet Explorer 7, I can certainly bet that new users will feel a little disoriented with the new layout. [...]
