Ten years. US$40 million. The result is Air Force’s new Active Denial System (ADS). A weapon that is non-lethal, supposedly carries no side-effects, and lets your victims feel as though they’ve been dipped in molten lava.
ADS is a state-of-the-art weapon that shoots a beam of millimeters waves. These waves are longer in wavelength than x-rays but shorter than microwaves. During experiments, no one could endure the pain for more than 5 seconds. If used properly, the ADS will supposedly produce no lasting adverse affects. Or so they say. Who knows?

But while subjects may feel like they have sustained serious burns, the documents claim effects are not long-lasting. At most, “some volunteers who tolerate the heat may experience prolonged redness or even small blisters,” the Air Force experiments concluded.
Critics are still questioning whether the weapon has any side-effects, so the debates might go on for years before we have a verdict if it will ever be used anywhere.

Its all fun and games until the crowd is hip to the idea and storm the machine en masse high on PCP… Only thing that’ll stop that is the trusty stopping power of the .45.

If the volunteer who lasted longest was only able to bare the waves for 5 seconds, and volunteers who tolerated the heat for longer periods experienced small burns, then what is to stop anyone from using the beam for 30 seconds and giving some drunk skin grafts?

High on PCP? You watched too many 80’s action films, Nathan T. The problem with any non-lethal system that CAN be lethal or painful is that cops are inherently sadistic killers and will use the weapon in the most torturous way possible. They’ll corner some crowd of women in an dead-end alley and just bake them with it while they die in agony, even if it takes an hour. If it doesn’t leave lasting marks? So much the better, no evidence.
