Break Your Cingular Contract Without Paying A Cent

Would you ditch Cingular?

If for some reason you always wanted to break your contract with Cingular, now’s your chance to do so without paying a termination fee.

Effective from Jan 21, 2007, Cingular’s text message rates will go up from $0.10 to $0.15.

Here’s the good stuff, from Cingular’s Terms of Service:

“IF WE INCREASE THE PRICE OF ANY OF THE SERVICES TO WHICH YOU SUBSCRIBE… YOU MAY TERMINATE THIS AGREEMENT WITHOUT PAYING AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE… PROVIDED YOUR NOTICE OF TERMINATION IS DELIVERED TO US WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER THE FIRST BILL REFLECTING THE CHANGE.”

And here:

“7. Provide customers the right to terminate service for changes to contract terms. Carriers will not modify the material terms of their subscribers’ contracts in a manner that is materially adverse to subscribers without providing a reasonable advance notice of a proposed modification and allowing subscribers a time period of not less than 14 days to cancel their contracts with no early termination fee (ETF).”

Well, they’ll probably give you a difficult time. But stay persistent, and your unwillingness to give in will pay off.

Good luck!

They’ll probly just grandfather in those who have a current contract and just charge 10 cents. Thats what i’d do if i were them.

  2. Sprintman Says:

What they will do is increase the rates and a lot of people wont notice. The people who do notice will get adjusted back to their contract rates with an “Oops , it was a computer error” apology.
