Samsung’s not gonna wait and let Apple bite into their cellphone marketshare. And with the announcement of their new Samsung F700 today, looks like Apple has got serious competition.
Like the iPhone, the F700 sports a touchscreen interface. But, here are two things that the F700 does better: Slide-out QWERTY keyboard and VibeTonz technology which responds to touches with vibrations.

Touchscreen may have its advantages, but sometimes real keys with tactile feedback just work better. And with the F700, you have the choice. Even if you choose to use the touchscreen, the phone provides vibration feedback so it will likely work better than iPhone (unless Apple decides to add this, which should be easy).
Other notable features:
- 7.2Mbps HSDPA
- 5-megapixel camera (beats iPhone hands down)
- Full HTML browser (perhaps not as good as iPhone’s Safari?)
- 2.78-inch touchscreen display
The release date is unknown, but it will be showcased at the 3GSM World Congress next week. Sit tight for more details coming from the event.

Won’t be much better than the iPhone… well, maybe it WILL be better- but definitely won’t be as popular as the Apple iPhone. IMHO.

Looks very interesting. Edge could go to Samsung as the addition of the QWERTY keyboard may outwiegh the software interface and the APPLE name value. This phone may also be more poppular in Asia as the QWERTY will allow for more flexibility for Asian Language countries. BUT, if anything Apple can be nimble and easily put out a model witha similar slide-out keyboard…. In that scenario, Apple wins…

Looks like Samsung are trying hard to play catchup with Apple but still staying pretty far behind. No thanks, I’ll wait for the real thing in June when iPhone is released. I don’t like the f700’s pull out keyboard, looks like a step back in time. Id this is the best Samsung can manage Apple doesn’t have much to worry about.

I love the new Samsung phone. Even if the pull out keyboard may seem old fashion this phone still bets the Apple iPhone anyday.

why do they make phones so expensive? they would get a lot more sales if they just lowered the prices. but other than that it is a nice looking, and working phone.
