AMD Athlon 64 3500+ & 3800+

Looking for energy-efficient chips? Forget Intel’s Core 2 Duos, AMD’s new Athlon 64 3500+ and 3800+ draw only 45 watts of power (vs. Intel’s 65 watts) and are based on 65nm technology. If all you want is a quiet and energy-saving computer, you shouldn’t be bothered by the chips being single-core.

The chips are available immediately and from vendors such as Alienware, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Systemax, and Voodoo. The 3500+ will go for US$88, and the 3800+ for US$93.
