If Toyota Prius can self-park, so can LEGO. It’s not perfect yet though, as it still knocks around the barriers a little.

It’s a kind of robot-car done with LEGO mindstorms NXT elements that can automatically park itself if it detects enough space between 2 objects. It has got an ultrasonic sensor that detects the length of free spaces. Then, when it detects enough space, it makes the necessary movments to park. And when you say “GO!” it returns to the road.

It’s amazing what the LEGO enthusiasts are capable of coming up with.

There’s LEGO Crossbow and LEGO Rubberband Chaingun, how can we not have a LEGO Flamethrower! Thanks to LEGO enthusiast Mark Puustinen for sharing the flamethrower he built.

“This homemade LEGO flamethrower is completely built with LEGO toy building bricks. Only thing not LEGO is a piece of string and a refill bottle of butane gas which is commonly used in butane lighters and can be bought in almost any supermarket or grocery store.”

It works by “winding a little round knob which pulls the string which pulls the lever which pushes the bottle of butane against a holder with a hole from which butane shoots out from”.

The Ultimate LEGO Rubberband Chaingun took a dude named Sebastian over a month to build. And he is already having plans to mod up the gun with cool stuffs like ammo counter and faster firing rate.

Alexei J. Berteig, a LEGO hobbyist, had meant to create a simple LEGO-shooting elastic gun. But he ended up turning the project into a 300-hour one, for a semi-automatic pump-action crossbow.

The crossbow holds 4 standard LEGO bricks in the handle and 1 in the firing chamber. As the crossbow arms draw back and fire the LEGO brick in the chamber, a new brick from the handle is automatically loaded into the chamber, ready for fire.

Given that LEGO bricks are far from being aerodynamic, the crossbow still manages to fire each up to a decent 20 yards. And quoting Alexei, the firing power can pretty much hurt a house pet.
