Sick of handling all the cash notes whenever you play Monopoly? After all, they aren’t real money and the texture of the notes just doesn’t feel as good as the real thing.

Well, good news because Hasbro has announced a new version of Monopoly called the “Monopoly Here and Now Electronic Banking” edition, which comes with debit cards and an electronic card reader for transferring money.

“If Monopoly was invented today it would look totally different so we have updated all of the property prices and locations,” said Helen Martin, marketing director at the British arm of Hasbro. “Also people don’t use cash anymore, it is all on plastic, so we have taken the money out… and we have replaced it with debit cards,” Martin told reporters.

Instead of the $200 you receive whenever you pass Go, the new edition credits your card with two million pounds. Sounds like a great way to get your kids started on counting big money!

For those that still prefers the cash notes, worry not. The traditional version will continue to be made. The Monopoly Here and Now Electronic Banking edition will cost around £24.99 (~US$46), compared to £12.99 (~US$24) for the traditional cash notes edition.

Notice the VISA logo on the reader pictured above? Your kids would be thrilled.
