Prints made from standard ink lasts around 15 years. Not a big deal in this digital age, since you could simply reprint from your digital copy. But Kodak likes the idea of long-lasting inks anyway.

Kodak’s new printer ink lasts not twice, not trice, but about 6.6 times longer than typical inks, 100 years to be exact. Not only will the ink last longer, it is cheaper as well, currently being priced at US$9.99 for a cartridge of black ink and US$14.99 for the five-color ones.

And as a bonus, the printers that this ink works on are blazingly fast as well, capable of churning out 22 pages per minute.

What’s the fastest inkjet printer now? 30 pages per minute (ppm)? Ha! Don’t make JeTrix laugh.

The new JeTrix printing technology is invented by Flamingo Electronics and is capable of hitting 1,000ppm printing speed! That is insanely fast. They achieved the speed by making the print head as large as a full page itself and sporting 56,000 nozzles, compared to traditional inkjets with only around 1,000 nozzles.

The technology is expected to be available two years from now. So if you are in an industry that requires high-speed printing, look out for JeTrix in 2008.
